Who is the Hero of Ages?

To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness---the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists---is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world. Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can’t even discuss it with Elend lest Ruin learn their plans!

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave readers rubbing their eyes in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

What Customers Say About The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, Book 3):

The final book in a trilogy really makes it, and I have to say this book lifts the Mistborn trilogy into the category of "brilliant". Definitely read the first two first, and definitely finish this series if you start it. The characters have grown since the first book, especially the minor characters.

It's rare that a fantasy novel can give me an ending that is both unexpected and satisfying (usually it's one or the other) but this does both. Elend and Vin's trust in each other is a note of light in a world that appears to be ending around them. Everything is flawlessly pulled together in a way that make you realise how carefully structured the trilogy is as a whole.

Sazed and Spook feature as major characters in this book alongside Elend and Vin. I love where Sanderson has taken this trilogy - from destroying the Lord Ruler to realising that maybe that wasn't such a great idea, to believing the Well of Ascension would solve everything, to realising maybe that wasn't such a great idea also. Consequences seem to be the main theme driving this trilogy - happy endings don't just happen magically because you slew the bad guy.

Sazed's soul-searching journey to find 'truth' fleshes him out as a character. It's totally worth it.

If you are looking two try Brandon Sanderson for the firs time don't start here. If the answer is that all the events led to the turning point then all the good stays in place.

Tables turn quickly as perspective changes for Vin and Elend Venture as they walk their mile in the Lord Ruler's shoes. Ruin, the evil being the Lord Ruler fought to contain now has free reign and he seeks to destroy everything and Vin and Elend must attempt to seek the clues left behind by the Lord Ruler in hopes of placing Ruin back in his prison and saving the Final Empire.Brandon Sanderson continues his solid streak with this strong conclusion to the Mistborn Trilogy.

"The Hero of Ages", book three of The Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. What appeared to be salvation within the Well of Ascension for the people of The Final Empire may have actually been their doom. Without giving any spoilers, at the conclusion of the story you could possibly find yourself asking if any of the things that took place were ever even necessary to begin with.

Well drawn characters, good action sequences and a solid plot carry the story. The Good: All the elements that worked the two previous outings are in play once again. Brandon Sanderson employees what have now become his signature traits to finish off this series and once again it is a success. The Bad: There is one thing that comes to mind that can be looked at in one of two ways regarding the finish to this series.

If in your mind it boils down to chance and timing alone you could be left feeling a bit empty about the whole thing.Overall: The Hero of Ages was a strong finish to the series and if you enjoyed the other two pick this one up also. Start with "Mistborn : Final Empire Series (Book #1) (Mistborn, Book 1)".

Sanderson spent too much time repeating inner conflicts from the previous books. Another author has disappointed me with a trilogy. I found this book extremely boring and too much emphasis on Sazed and Spook. I wasn't impressed with the end either plus like Keilser he killed off two favorite characters, Elend and Vin. Unbelievable.

The ONLY real complaint I had was I thought it was completely unnecessary to give a name to the final being - especially a name that holds so many meanings for many people. So I decided to check him out. This is something that actually started to bother me a bit in this book because it's hard work to restrain the impulse to look ahead in the book and figure out how it all works out.As I read this third installment of the Mistborn trilogy I could hear the clicks in my mind, checking off each confusing element, fusing together bits and pieces given in the first two books - basically making the story one that was very plausible and fantastic. Fantastic ending to a thrilling trilogy. I blew through these books and was unable to put them down, I even walked around the house with my nose buried in them.I am already making plans to own the trilogy and I plan to recommend it to fellow fantasy lovers - my dad included. I'd heard of Sanderson only when I learned he was to finish the Wheel of Time series started by Robert Jordan.

If not, then just ignore this.So on the trilogy as a whole - it's fantastic.

But in a way, I guess it makes sense.

dangit I'm going to have to go through some of the boring ones again and get caught up when they come out.Sanderson creates a very intricate, very believable and VERY fascinating set of magic rules.

I want to talk about my thoughts for the trilogy as a whole in this review, but first - a few things about the book itself.Sanderson takes about half the book to build up for what is bound to be a spectacular finish.

I now know that those final two books should be pretty damn good and.

It just took away the fantasy element for me and made me go "hrm".

Read the book - you'll understand (possibly).

His world is incredibly immersive - to the point where I felt as if I was watching a movie; my imagination was stimulated that much.

If you are a fantasy lover and have not read these books put them on your list.

I highly recommend this trilogy. I grew up a Librarians child and have always read books for pleasure. I'm not the most educated person out there and this may get written wrong but I have to say this regardless. This series has been the most amazing I have EVER read in my whole LIFE. I have read many books that have made me feel a certain way to some extent. I'm sure many a reader is familiar with the feelings a good story can invoke. Just simply amazing. I can't praise it enough I have trouble trying to find the words to describe it.
